Brother Richard B. Guttridge

 -1982-

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

The annual Installation of Officers was held on December 12, 1981 and Mada Carpenter was the pianist and soloist Robert Harris rounded out the musical entertainment for the evening. After the ceremonies light refreshments were served in the dining hall.

In February it was moved by motion and vote to purchase new Officers aprons and collars. In March another mountain oyster dinner was enjoyed by all...what do they mean by enjoyed??? are they kidding??? hehehe

On March 18th there was a sideliners night. This is where the people who normally just sit and watch a degree actually take a station and perform the work of that station. It was very fun and a good job was done by the sideliners.

In May it was back to Big Creek for another third degree from the Edison Company and also it was Past Masters night again.

IN August the Lodge was worried that the building we were occupying might get caught in the revitalization that was going on in downtown Clovis. After checking with the city officials it was decided that it wasn't coming out as far as the Lodge.

It was also decided by motion and vote to insulate the building to try and help with the heating and cooling of the building. It was said to be unbearably hot in the summer and really cold in the winter.

At the Roll Call dinner there were over 100 people present and 12-25 year pins were given out to deserving members.

Brothers lost to death in this year were Ralph Montgomery Barton, Gottfried Frederick Fischer, John T. Layson, Clair G. Dragoo, Durward Douglas, William Rex Kates, Bill Bennett, Andrew W. McClain, Dale Emery Glenn, Claude Sedgwick Morgan, John L. Reyburn, Milton J. Blakeley- 50 year member, Clark J. Beckham-50 year member, Lowell K. Keck, Wilfred R. Thompson and Dr. Clayton I. Pendergrass, Edgar L. Rollins, Myron W. Glenn- 50 year member, James R. Strawn, William A. Shunk, Gladis H. Smith and Francis M. Price.

In May 1990, Bro. Richard B. Guttridge PM passed away. Brother Guttridge was a retired teacher and Past Master of 2 Masonic Lodges including Clovis Lodge. Kind words spoken were, "Bro. Richard will be missed by all who knew him and who had worked so closely with him."
